“Captain Jinks” is a cigar-store figure originally created for a tobacco shop at Market and Broad Streets, Newark .


Marshall Rumbaugh was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and is well known in that region for his historical carvings as well as his exceptional talent in capturing the activities of the Amish in wood. His carving of Rosa Parks is in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.
Patrick and I have bought, sold, and collected many carvings by Marshall since the late 1970’s when Marshall wandered into our shop.
