New Discovery: “Tall Soldiers Artist”

New Discovery: “Tall Soldiers Artist”

Fraktur Taufschein for Michael Bossert.

There are very few early fraktur that have survived by the artist coined the ‘”Tall Soldiers Artist” who worked in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Recently discovered, this birth and baptismal certificate bears the early date of “1766” and although it does not bear the soldier figures, the artist included the very primitive angels and roosters found on other examples.
